Strong words from Rick Mercer: “It’s no longer good enough for us to tell kids who are different that it’s gonna get better. We have to make it better now”. The statement comes from Rick’s latest rant, which was inspired by the suicide of 15-year-old Jamie Hubley, and was broadcast on this Tuesday’s episode of the Rick Mercer Report.
The clip is getting a lot of attention for its impassioned, and very direct, take on the issues of gay bullying and teen suicide. Rick ends the video by telling gay people in public life that they “can’t be invisible, not anymore”, and that “300 kids is 300 too many”
