The significant structural changes introduced by the Health and Social Care Act 2012 will have an impact on the overall governance of controlled drugs and the role and functions of primary care trust CDAOs. Consequently, the Controlled Drugs (Supervision of Management and Use) Regulations 2006 require revision. The consultation and supporting documentation can be downloaded from<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dh.gov.uk\/health\/2012\/09\/controlled-drugs\/\"> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">here<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0The consultation ends on 15 November 2012.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>BNFC now available as a free app<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Health professionals can now access the British National Formulary for children (BNFC) from a smartphone or tablet via a new application (app) from the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE). This follows the recent launch of the BNF app. The apps require an NHS Athens username and password and can be run without an internet connection once they have been downloaded. For more information click <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nice.org.uk\/aboutnice\/nicewebsitedevelopment\/NICEApps.jsp\">here<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Latest additions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>PCF updated monographs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The online <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.palliativedrugs.com\/index.html\">Palliative Care Formulary (PCF)<\/a><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0is being continually updated. The following monographs have been updated during September 2012 and supersede those in the publication of the 4<sup>th<\/sup> edition of the Palliative Care formulary (PCF4). PCF4+ contains 17 updated monographs and 1 appendix, which supersede the printed PCF4 version. We anticipate publishing a PDF version annually, with the fifth edition of the book (PCF5) in 2014.
