Posts to the blog include book reviews, CFP announcements, film reviews, and article summaries (with audio clips) of articles recently published in the journal. In addition, the blog publishes original critical short essays on the medical humanities, broadly considered, and encourages cross-cultural exchange. We have an interest in hearing global voices and in focusing on the health humanities and accessibility\/social justice. The blog seeks to foster ECR and other scholars, allowing them space to present ideas in the hopes of leading to future article submission to the journal.<\/p>\n<p>The blog publishes content twice weekly on average. Team members include the digital projects coordinator, a film correspondent, a global health correspondent, and the blog editor (also the journal\u2019s EIC, Brandy Schillace).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assume responsibility for seeking and soliciting well-written and effective content in areas of interest<\/li>\n<li>Maintain an up to date knowledge of the field and build relationships which help develop<\/li>\n<li>suitable content<\/li>\n<li>Write\/produce content for the site (% required to be agreed upon)<\/li>\n<li>Select and brief contributors, then support them as needed to produce content<\/li>\n<li>Edit submissions, giving constructive feedback to contributors, and ensuring the accessibility of the content to an interdisciplinary audience (this is a task shared with other team members and the EIC)<\/li>\n<li>Take active responsibility for ensuring there is a regular flow of relevant content for the blog, where necessary chasing up contributors<\/li>\n<li>Work closely with the Editor-in-Chief and digital projects coordinator to review progress against agreed objectives, identify opportunities and plan for further development<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>PERSON SPECIFICATION <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Essential <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>PhD in a relevant field preferred<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated interest and ability to identify, understand and create opportunities to engage with key ideas and debates within the medical humanities<\/li>\n<li>Excellent communication skills, particularly writing for both academic and public audiences<\/li>\n<li>Able to edit materials to a high standard and within house style guidelines<\/li>\n<li>Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to provide constructive and tactful feedback<\/li>\n<li>Excellent organizational, IT and administrative skills<\/li>\n<li>Able to work independently, take initiative and prioritize own workload without close supervision<\/li>\n<li>Self-motivated with the drive to carry tasks through to completion<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work well as part of a team<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Desirable <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Proficiency in using WordPress<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency in the use of social media to engage audiences in research<\/li>\n<li>Experience of using analytics to monitor uptake of online content<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you are interested in applying for this opportunity, please send a CV and statement to <a id=\"LPlnk370948\" style=\"background-color: #ffffff;font-size: 1rem\" href=\"mailto:jthomas@bmj.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">jthomas@bmj.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>.<!--TrendMD v2.4.8--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Post: CONTENT EDITOR, BMJ MH Blog Position type: Remote Stipend: \u00a3500 yearly Hours per week: 4-5 Closing Date 12 noon, Monday 2 Dec 2019 &nbsp; Job Summary &amp; Purpose The Medical Humanities blog supports and extends the reach of the BMJ Medical Humanities journal and life sciences regulatory compliance solution.
