I pulled these together with the generous help of disabilities scholar Dr Hannah Tweed (@hannahhctweed, @mhrcglasgow) who tirelessly sends out medical humanities news to the <a href=\"http:\/\/mhrc.academicblogs.co.uk\/\">Medical Humanities Research Network<\/a>\u00a0where you can find these events and many more.<\/p>\n<p>Our first CfP is for\u00a0an\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mhrc.academicblogs.co.uk\/2017\/04\/10\/cfp-edited-collection-on-disability-and-research\/\">edited collection on disability and research <\/a>currently being put together by Dr. Bronagh Byrne (Queen\u2019s University Belfast) and Dr. Ciaran Burke (Ulster University) which will consider social research methods and their usefulness for disabled respondents. Abstracts are due on <strong>Monday the 8th of May<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Upcoming from the Leeds Centre for Medical Humanities on the <strong>27th of April<\/strong> is\u00a0the latest\u00a0seminar in their series,\u00a0&#8220;Augmenting the Body: Disability, Bodily Extensions and the Posthuman&#8221;. This seminar, on &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/lcmh.wordpress.com\/2017\/03\/22\/work-and-the-posthuman\/\">Work and the Posthuman<\/a>&#8220;, will feature Stuart Murray and Rebecca\u00a0Randell and takes place\u00a0on the 27th of April. Also taking place in Leeds is a symposium on <a href=\"http:\/\/medicineandthesenses.weebly.com\/\">Medicine and the Senses<\/a>\u00a0which takes place on the <strong>1st of June<\/strong>. The call for papers is open until the <strong>1st of May<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In advance of a CfP, the Northern Network for Medical Humanities have issued a &#8216;save the date&#8217;; Durham University will be hosting the inaugural <a href=\"http:\/\/nnmh.org.uk\/save-the-date-nnmhr-research-congress-durham-14th-15th-september\/\">NNMH Congress<\/a>, on the\u00a0<strong>14th-15th September 2017<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/londoncritical.org\/\">London Conference in Critical Thought <\/a>is hosting a stream entitled &#8220;Habit, Addiction and Thought&#8221;. The call for papers has now closed, but the conference\u00a0takes place at London South Bank University from the <strong>30th of June to the 1st of July<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Also upcoming is a special issue of <em>Modern Fiction Studies <\/em>on &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.disabilitystudiesnetwork.gla.ac.uk\/2017\/04\/10\/cfp-special-issue-of-modernist-fiction-studies-modernist-fictions-of-disability\/\">Modernist Fictions of Disability<\/a>&#8221; to be edited by Maren Linett. Essays should be submitted in full via Manuscript Central, but\u00a0you can ask the editor for further information at <a href=\"mailto:mlinett@purdue.edu\">mlinett@purdue.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Our next CfP is for a conference to take place in Berlin from the <strong>27th to the 28th of October 2017<\/strong>. The conference, entitled &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/centreformedicalhumanities.org\/stories-of-illnesdisability-in-literature-and-comics-cfp-berlin-october-27-28-2017\/\">Stories of Illness\/Disability in Literature and Comics<\/a>&#8220;, is being organised by the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.geisteswissenschaften.fu-berlin.de\/friedrichschlegel\/assoziierte_projekte\/Pathographics\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">PathoGraphics<\/a> research team at the Freie Universit\u00e4t Berlin and abstracts are due by the <strong>31st of May<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Canadian Journal of Disability Studies is seeking full submissions for\u00a0two relevant\u00a0special issues, one\u00a0on &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/cjds.uwaterloo.ca\/index.php\/cjds\/announcement\/view\/13\">Disabled Sexualities<\/a>&#8221;\u00a0with a deadline of\u00a0the <strong>1st of June<\/strong>, and the second on &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/cjds.uwaterloo.ca\/index.php\/cjds\/announcement\/view\/12\">Survivals, Ruptures, Resiliences: Perspectives from Disability Scholarship, Activism, and Art<\/a>&#8221; where you can send manuscripts until the<strong> 1st of October<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Ian Walsh\u00a0and\u00a0Dr Helen Noble, from Queen\u2019s University Belfast, are the guest editors of a special issue of the journal <em>Healthcare<\/em>, entitled\u00a0\u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mdpi.com\/journal\/healthcare\/special_issues\/humanities\">Humanities and Healthcare<\/a>\u201d. Full submissions can be submitted until the <strong>31st of July<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps a\u00a0bit\u00a0late to be posting this\u00a0next one, but if you have a relevant paper\u00a0in your bottom drawer you might consider submitting it to\u00a0\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/networks.h-net.org\/node\/4189\/discussions\/170796\/cfp-taking-back-health-health-tomorrow-vol-5-2017\">Taking Back Health: Health Tomorrow<\/a><\/em>, the fifth volume in the series &#8220;Health Tomorrow: Interdisciplinarity and Internationality&#8221; (HTII).
