While there is no duty by law to do it, there may be a shared responsibility between the laboratory practitioners, ordering clinicians and the patient. This document discusses important ethical and practical factors, particularly in resource-limited healthcare systems. It provides some helpful scenarios to trigger recontact, suggests methods and frequencies for recontacting, and highlights potential tools that could streamline the process in the future.
