Predictive BRCA1<\/em>\/2 testing, offered to healthy individuals after a BRCA1\/2 <\/em>gene change is identified in an affected family member, allows relatives to undergo cancer risk assessment and consider early cancer detection and risk-reduction strategies.\u00a0 This study is the largest assessment of BRCA1\/2<\/em> predictive testing uptake in close relatives, encompassing 5669 individuals from 1564 families, for the longest follow-up period reported (up to 24.5 years).\u00a0 Uptake of predictive testing is age, gender and time dependent. It is highest in younger women with children and men with daughters. There is lower uptake in older women who are still at high risk of lethal ovarian cancers.
