Today on FairWarning (an excellent site, btw) there was a good news announcement that the governor of Colorado signed a bill restricting firearms. As of July 1, background checks would be required for private and online gun sales and ammunition magazines holding more than 15 rounds would be banned. That is the good news. The bad news is that the same day a prison chief was shot and died and Human Events (Powerful Conservative Voices) quoted Fox News saying that” local sheriffs are announcing they won’t enforce the new laws. Weld County Sheriff John Cooke said “they’re feel-good, knee-jerk reactions that are unenforceable,” and they give citizens “a false sense of security.” Editors comment: Will readers please explain what will give citizens a genuine sense of security?
