The competency frameworks have been produced as developmental tools to support individual people and organisations and may help to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>identify training and competency needs<\/li>\n<li>develop educational materials<\/li>\n<li>establish a comprehensive and appropriate training programme<\/li>\n<li>facilitate continuing professional development<\/li>\n<li>inform the development of organisational systems and processes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Three competency frameworks have been produced:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nice.org.uk\/mpc\/goodpracticeguidance\/GPG2.jsp?domedia=1&amp;mid=BE750C8D-902F-61EA-85ECE35DA1B911F8\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Competency framework for people developing and\/or reviewing and updating PGDs<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nice.org.uk\/mpc\/goodpracticeguidance\/GPG2.jsp?domedia=1&amp;mid=BE7819A2-C3B7-10A1-436D915BC0AFF9B9\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Competency framework for people authorising PGDs<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nice.org.uk\/mpc\/goodpracticeguidance\/GPG2.jsp?domedia=1&amp;mid=BE78D07B-E9E7-39C7-C8C22B69D72439B4\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Competency framework for health professionals using PGDs<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The competency frameworks are available to download under \u2018Implementation tools and resources\u2019 on the patient group directions guidance page: \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nice.org.uk\/mpc\/goodpracticeguidance\/GPG2.jsp\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">http:\/\/www.nice.org.uk\/mpc\/goodpracticeguidance\/GPG2.jsp<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The competency frameworks have been developed to support individuals and organisations commissioning or providing <a href=\"http:\/\/publications.nice.org.uk\/patient-group-directions-gpg2\/appendix-a-glossary#nhs-commissioned-service\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">NHS services<\/span><\/a>.
