The IF reflects the number of citations a journal receives and is seen as a marker of its relative &#8216;importance&#8217;. It is calculated by dividing the number of times articles were cited in the previous 2 yrs by the number of citable items.<\/p>\n<p>The table shows how this has changed over time and compared with
