{"id":366,"date":"2008-04-29T15:45:30","date_gmt":"2008-04-29T14:45:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.bmj.com\/bmj\/2008\/04\/29\/mark-lewis-a-wounded-survivor\/"},"modified":"2008-04-29T15:45:30","modified_gmt":"2008-04-29T14:45:30","slug":"mark-lewis-a-wounded-survivor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bmj.com\/bmj\/2008\/04\/29\/mark-lewis-a-wounded-survivor\/","title":{"rendered":"Mark Lewis: A wounded survivor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thank you for all the replies to my last <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.bmj.com\/bmj\/2008\/03\/31\/mark-lewis-what-to-do-next\/\" title=\"What to do next\">blog<\/a> &#8211; I&#8217;ve had a lot of very kind feedback and sympathy from readers.\u00a0 <!--more-->A\u00a0lot of people still want to know what I have chosen to do\u00a0and what plans I have made for the next year.\u00a0 I began by\u00a0 contacting someone regarding a potential PhD project and\u00a0was investigating that option, when one of the other\u00a0specialty posts I applied for in January contacted me&#8230; I\u00a0previously had received an email from the deanery stating\u00a0that I had scored 14 on my short-listing application for\u00a0and that a score of 14.5 was necessary to be invited to\u00a0interview (would one more audit have tipped the scales??).\u00a0 Interestingly one of the other SHOs at my hospital had applied to the same job and scored 9, so I didn&#8217;t feel too cheated!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I digress &#8230; the e-mail stated that a number of applicants had withdrawn and they were now interviewing all candidiates with a score of 14 &#8211; woo hoo.\u00a0I even had more than two weeks notice for the interview.<\/p>\n<p>After that it was all plain sailing &#8230; a few more people didn&#8217;t turn up to the interview (I can&#8217;t understand that!!) and I had my lucky pants on (never failed yet!).<\/p>\n<p>So I become a wounded survivor of the application game\u00a0 this year.\u00a0 130 mile relocation, but with run-through\u00a0training.\u00a0 At least I have 3 months notice of where I am\u00a0working &#8211; in the last 3 years I have never had any idea\u00a0until mid-July and then had to move with very little\u00a0notice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thank you for all the replies to my last blog &#8211; I&#8217;ve had a lot of very kind feedback and sympathy from readers.\u00a0 [&#8230;]<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"btn btn-secondary understrap-read-more-link\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.bmj.com\/bmj\/2008\/04\/29\/mark-lewis-a-wounded-survivor\/\">More&#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[165],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-366","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-junior-doctors"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 -
