Before punsters start with the &#8216;I thought that was a contradiction in terms&#8217;, this fascinating meeting brought debate about:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> &#8216;Bloodgate&#8217;,<\/li>\n<li> the ethics of taping a &#8216;non-injury&#8217; so as this obvious decoy would draw tackles away from a truly injured (and untaped part)\u00a0 and also,<\/li>\n<li>legal interpretation of common sports medicine behaviours.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Do coaches know that every time they discuss a player&#8217;s injury &#8211; without getting a player&#8217;s approval first, counts as a violation of the code of confidentiality between the player and his or her medical team?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecss.mobi\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=153&amp;Itemid=62\" target=\"_blank\">Professor Mike McNamee from Swansea<\/a>,\u00a0chartered physiotherapist (former England Rugby Union) <a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/sport\/rugbyunion\/club\/8201631\/Harlequins-bloodgate-physio-Steph-Brennan-begins-high-court-appeal-to-save-career.html\" target=\"_blank\">Steph Brennan <\/a>and lawyer\/doctor David Thomson\u00a0shared\u00a0their thoughts\u00a0about various issues.<\/p>\n<p>A timely issue is the treatment of Steph Brennan &#8211;\u00a0our spy at the RSM event\u00a0understands that his blight on the profession was to to provide a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/sport\/rugbyunion\/club\/6035088\/Harlequins-Bloodgate-debacle-has-turned-into-a-witch-hunt.html\" target=\"_blank\">fake blood vial <\/a>(as in\u00a0the films\/movies) to a player to permit a convenient exit stage left for that player given that Rugby does not have\u00a0in interchange system.<\/p>\n<p>Brennan\u00a0was <span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>deregistered for life <\/strong><\/span>for this\u00a0&#8211; which to this editor seems a penalty way too steep for the crime.
