{"id":7851,"date":"2018-06-11T09:21:47","date_gmt":"2018-06-11T08:21:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.bmj.com\/bjsm\/?p=7851"},"modified":"2018-06-11T09:23:15","modified_gmt":"2018-06-11T08:23:15","slug":"new-job-opportunity-who-hq-technical-officer-physical-activity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bmj.com\/bjsm\/2018\/06\/11\/new-job-opportunity-who-hq-technical-officer-physical-activity\/","title":{"rendered":"NEW JOB OPPORTUNITY @WHO HQ: Technical Officer &#8211; Physical Activity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Last week we saw <a href=\"http:\/\/www.who.int\/ncds\/prevention\/physical-activity\/gappa\/action-plan\">WHO Global Action Plan on Physical Activity (GAPPA) 2018-2030<\/a>\u00a0take off.\u00a0This week we&#8217;re excited to announce an opportunity to join the WHO Department of Prevention of Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs) and the Unit of Surveillance and Population-based Prevention as\u00a0a <strong><em>Full Time Technical Officer<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0working in the area of physical activity and specifically the implementation of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/apps.who.int\/iris\/bitstream\/handle\/10665\/272721\/WHO-NMH-PND-18.5-eng.pdf\">More active people for a healthier world\u00a0Programme.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Specific duties for the <em>Technical Officer<\/em>\u00a0position are to:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Collaborate with international stakeholders with regard to the formulation and development of global guidance on reduction of physical inactivity at the population level.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with regional offices, countries, national institutes, researchers, civil society and United Nations agencies with regard to the implementation of population-based strategies to reduce physical inactivity.<\/li>\n<li>Assist in capacity building for in-country implementation of the recommended policy actions in the forthcoming global action plan on physical activity and health 2018-2030.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to the development of implementation guidance tools and resources to support country action, particularly in low- and middle-income countries and contexts.<\/li>\n<li>Develop, maintain and further enhance web-based consultation systems such as Communities of Practice, as well relevant websites and communication platforms to support the global action plan on physical activity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Please note: the position is based in Geneva and requires relocation.
