BMJ Open is an open access, online-only general medical journal, dedicated to publishing medical research from all disciplines and therapeutic areas. Our publishing procedures are built around a continuous publication model – publishing research online as soon as the article is ready.

Open access means that all the research published in the journal is freely available, in its entirety. All papers published in the journal receive full, rigorous peer review and are published subject to the same high standards of research integrity and ethical procedures as the BMJ and all other BMJ Group journals.

Authors are asked to pay article-processing charges on acceptance, although waivers are available on request. The ability to pay does not influence editorial decisions; payment requests are made on acceptance.
