Very well said, Dr.Jain. Your article very aptly exposes the abysmal treatment of rape victims in India. Its as if they are not the victims, but the culprits. India is yet to employ scientific methods to investigate and solve rape cases.Doctors play a very important role in helping a rape victim cope with her trauma and provide assistance through the medical exams and legal formalities like filing complaints. I hope people will learn something from this article.

Sorry – but it is not the responsibility of “women to learn to protect themselves” – but the responsibility of men to understand they May Not Rape…..that it is not to be tolerated or seen as the victim’s fault…. ever.

Has anyone stopped his car and looked down to help accident victims, riot victims, victims of assault. Slogan shouting, candle burning, fast for a day or two will not be of any help. Females have to learn to protect themselves if they need to venture out. No country can provide 24X7 protection to its citizens both males and females.
