Sunshine 12, do you live in a parallel universe? Or are you a paid employee of Norvartis/Genetech? Have you heard of the CATT and IVAN trials. One has and the other will show no diffrence between the two drugs.More than one milion injections of Avastin have been given over the last 10 years and except for a few cases of infections, no serious side -effects have been reported. At our centre where we give about 5000 injections a year, we have one case of endophthalmitis ( eye infection), not with Avastin but with Lucentis. Norvatis is blleding the NHS dry. Approximately 5 million per PCT per year will be saved if we switch from Avastin to Lucentis. <br>AVASTIN = LUCENTIS and a lot cheaper!

Unlicensed means Unlicensed-no regulatory control,no safety trials,no adverse event reporting mechanism -what is the point in having a safe NHS if you are going to introduce an unlicensed medication when a licensed and approved product is available??Is this just about cost at the expense of the patient-appalling!
