The year is long. Flu never ends. Myself, on a typical year may get 4+ "infections" with flu-like symptoms. My kids get at least 2, one more than 2.
They are diagnosed as viral infections of unknown cause.
DNA is not sent for analysis.
Suppose a person 10-70 yo gets flu symptoms and is treated.
Should we use the 5 day treatment recommendations?
Eventually, the person gets better. Like the joke, a flu treated improves in one week, one without treatment takes 7 days.

Two months later, another flu-like disease. Should treat again with antivirals?

How many times per year?
Is the answer the same for a healthy 40 yo adult? I presume, teh answer here would be NOT treat with antivirals.

COnsider a 70 yo with decreased immunity. Should he be treated every time with antivirals?

The usual treatment is acetaminophen or something similar.
One rarely thinks twice about multiple doses several times per year (within daily limits).

Should antivirals be used the same way (except in the US is about $70-$100 vs $2 for antipyretic).

Thank you
