Insurance paid for a rebuild and Pulse paid me for an article on it. As for what you should have done--do I have to say you should have kept a back up??? Which you can do online these days and it costs virtually nothing so long as you have broadband. Or if you use webmail, eg gmail which is highly regarded, you don't actually have to do anything at all for e-mail back up because all received mails and copies of replies just sit on the server until you delete them.
