Spinal haematomas in non accidental injury

17 Sep, 08 | by Ian Wacogne

In a series of 18 patients referred to a tertiary neurosurgical centre with non-accidental head injury, eight had subdural collections identified on MRI of the spine.  Here.

This is obviously quite interesting in the context of the RCPCH and Royal College of Radiologists recent guidelines on imaging in non-accidental injury, here. For many this has been quite a big impact, with a big increased burden of head imaging.  Hopefully this won’t suddenly increase the list of mandatory investigations further.
